Histotechnology

PROGRAM CURRICULUM

CLINICAL EXPERIENCE
The clinical experience curriculum consists of 36 weeks. The student is given the time off listed on the “Histotechnology Student Holidays” sheet (listed in student hand book). All other absences must be made up during the times designated as make-up days.

The following clinical experiences are offered:

ORIENTATION
To include presentation and discussion of student policies and procedure, student grading and practical evaluation system, presentation and discussion on laboratory safety and specimen collection.

LECTURE SERIES
To include instrumentation, processing, embedding, microtomy, fixation, and special stains.

SEMINARS
Topics of discussion include laboratory safety, quality control, continuous quality improvement, laboratory accreditation, laboratory organization and management, labor relations, risk management, preparing objectives, test construction, evaluation and problem solving, and use of audio visual aids.

TELECONFERENCES
National Teleconferences with the latest up to date information.
